In order to develop the transport system and ensure the safety of drivers, passengers and pedestrians in the future, Toyota in the United States has significantly expanded research program and announced an additional investment of $ 35 million for development in this area until 2020. Over the past three years, the research center of security technologies in the US Toyota has launched 34 research projects with 17 partner organizations. Among the projects implemented center – a system to prevent accidents, the occupant protection system of child and pedestrian safety.

The developers of the company are now concentrated their forces on the safe management of automated vehicles linked in a network using wireless technology. Under the new program is planned to create an interface that facilitates the interaction between man and the car equipped with ultramodern technology.

The system provides automated driving safe driving on motorways with little or no involvement of the driver. The system is based on three technologies: cooperative and adaptive cruise control, system monitoring compliance with road markings and an interactive interface “man-machine”.
