Toyota stops to produce RAV4 EV

The Japanese automaker buys power plants for Toyota RAV4 EV at Tesla, but the contract for the supply of units completed in 2014.

Toyota representatives noted that the contract will not be renewed, as the company intends to establish its own hydrogen fuel cell. However, the first model that will work on the new power plant will be one of the sedans Toyota. It was assumed that the electric crossover will be the first step towards full cooperation of Toyota and Tesla, but an electric version of Toyota RAV4 did not meet expectations due to low demand. Toyota RAV4 electric version was created based on the previous generation RAV4. It was designed to meet the demand for vehicles with zero emissions. Instead of the traditional set of petrol and diesel engines, RAV4 EV is driven electrical installation designed by Tesla. It consists of an electric motor whose power is 115 kW and 370 Nm of torque, and a lithium-ion battery (41, 8 kW/h). Toyota RAV4 EV is able to overcome 166 kilometers on a single charge. Maximum speed of crossover is 160 kilometers per hour. The car was available only in U.S.A.
