The company has been developing the display two years.
The new system will combine the usual dashboard and the navigation; it will warn as well the driver of potential dangers on the road and help to avoid it. Now is shown only the image of the system, but the probability of its serial run is quite high.
Toyota has developed a three-dimensional projective display, which is scheduled to start in production in the near future. Besides the standard information such as vehicle speed or the temperature in the cabin, the system will display all sorts of warnings about the dangers on the road. For example, avoid obstacles cyclist or an entering car on the intersection, which will be stand out in red, to the driver to drew his attention.

The system comprises three devices: an optical rangefinder (called lidar), which helps to calculate the possible point of intersection with the approaching object, radar, which is collecting the information about the velocity of objects, as well as the camera, which determines the size and shape of these objects.

There will be no need of special glasses or coating on the glass to see the work of 3D-display. The terms of occurrence of the innovative screen on serial cars are not specified yet.
