Toyota Alphard and Vellfire top-car after restyling (part 1)

Toyota Alphard and Vellfire updated minivans of 2018-2019 years have been presented in Japan. They are ready to enter the local market on January 8, 2018 at a price of 3354480 Yen. Having survived a restyling Toyota Alfard and its top version Vellfire have got more aggressive appearance, chrome decor and modernized lighting, refined interior, advanced complex of the Toyota Safety Sense and powerful petrol engine V6 3.5.

The main change in the technical stuffing of the Japanese minivan is hidden under the hood of the flagship versions. In the engine compartment there is installed an upgraded 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine 2GR-FKS (301-hp and 361 Nm), replacing the engine V6 3.5 2GR-FE (280-hp and 344 Nm). The new engine is mated to 8-step automatic transmission in contrast to the previous engine, which is being aggregated with 6 automatic transmissions.

In addition, the motor line is complemented by a hybrid power unit consisting of a petrol 152-hp 2.5-liter 2AR-FXE running on the Atkinson cycle and two electric motors: 143-hp 2JM on the front axle and 68-horsepower 2FM on the rear axle (total power of electric motors makes 197 horses). The hybrid power plant provides the minivan with all-wheel drive and modest fuel consumption. By default, petrol Alphard and Vellfire models are supplied by front-wheel drive, but as an option, 4WD is also available.
