BMW and Toyota will issue a hatchback Z5 based on i3 and i8

Companies BMW and Toyota plan to extend their cooperation and jointly develop new small entry-level hatchback. According to «Automobile», the negotiations are still at an early stage, however, it is likely to become a part of the model range will be called MINI and Minor.

According to unofficial information, the company has developed a design of the car. According to insiders, the exterior resembles Novik and concept Paceman Rocketman. Hatchback will receive a trapezoidal grille, tail lights, a stylized British flag, as well as a unique roof. Prices for new product can range from 14 500 to 16 000 dollars.
Recall, the German BMW Group and Japan’s Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) signed an agreement providing increased cooperation and work in the long run in several directions. Concerns will jointly develop fuel cells and technology to reduce weight machines.

The first joint development will be the new roadster; the project is already at the stage of concept. The car will be called Z5 and will get a carbon fiber body, similar to that, which are used on models i3 and i8.
